EMDR training course
Starting October 2026, PsyGlobal will organise European accredited EMDR training (in English) for international mental health professionals in the Netherlands.
This training provides participants with the skills and certification to practice EMDR therapy at a professional level, in accordance with European standards.
Upon successful completion, participants are eligible to become members of the VEN (Vereniging EMDR Nederland) (exceptions or additional requirements may apply).
Entry requirements
To be eligible for this training, participants must meet the following requirements:
Education
- University master’s degree as a psychologist, pedagogical worker, mental health specialist or medical professional (validated in the Netherlands), or trained as a nurse specialist (MSc) with specialization in Mental Health Care in combination with Article 14 BIG registration, supplemented with one of the following qualifications:

- BIG registration as a healthcare psychologist, psychotherapist, psychiatrist, or generalist- orthopedagogist, or at least one year in training for one of these registrations
- Registration as a Child and Adolescent Psychologist (NIP), or being in training for at least one year and having obtained at least 240 credits
- Registration as a Sexologist (NVVS)
- A completed VGCt-accredited basic course in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (100 hours)
- A completed NVRG-accredited basic course in Systemic Therapy (132 hours)
- A completed VSt-accredited basic course in Schema Therapy (25 hours)
Work experience
- At least 12 hours per week of employment in mental health care, or in a setting considered equivalent by the registration committee, of which at least an average of 6 hours per week is spent on therapy within the relevant target group (adults).

About the course:
EMDR training requires you to participate in practical exercises yourself. This includes processing low level adverse, mildly distressing experiences and/or memories in order to really understand and experience the process from
both the therapist chair and the client perspective.
You are also required to practice EMDR with at least 3 clients in between the training sessions.
Course schedule:
Part 1:
1, 2 & 3 October 2026
Three-day in-person training session in Utrecht (08.45-17.30).
The aim of the days is to introduce you to EMDR and teach the basics of the standard protocol.
Part 2 :
20 November 2026
One-day online session.
We’ll teach and practice Cognitive Interweaves in the morning. In the afternoon we will do supervision and case discussion of your clinical work .
Part 3 :
4,5, & 6 January 2027
Three-day in-person training session in Utrecht (08.45-17.30).
The consideration of more complex needs is discussed and explored together with protocols beyond Ptsd (eg. depression, pain, blind to therapist protocol and grief)
Part 4 :
24 February 2027
One-day online session.
You will present cases, engage in case discussion and explore questions for supervision.
